Includes bibliographical references (leaves 103-119). Down syndrome (DS) is the most common chromosomal cause of intellectual disability and in the South African (SA) mixed ancestry population a prevalence of 1.54 in 1000 live births have been reported. Children with DS have a unique variety of health concerns and therefore regularly need to be followed-up. In the Western Cape (WC), the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital (RCWMCH) and Tygerberg Hospital (TBH) have specialised services that are offered to children with DS and their parents. 2014-12-31T19:52:23Z 2014-12-31T19:52:23Z 2010 Master Thesis Masters MSc http://hdl.handle.net/11427/10742 eng application/pdf Department of Medicine Faculty of Health Sciences University of Cape Town
