Includes bibliographical references. Child abuse in different forms, ranging from domestic violence against children to sexual abuse, is a worldwide phenomenon with a dramatic influence on the future of the abused child. In African countries, the number of reported cases is rising which may be a result of increased awareness amongst medical staff and parents. In sub-Saharan Africa, outside South Africa, there has been limited research on child abuse, in particular on child sexual abuse, and little is known about the extent of health services offered to the victims. 2015-01-01T12:46:35Z 2015-01-01T12:46:35Z 2012 Master Thesis Masters MPhil http://hdl.handle.net/11427/10864 eng application/pdf Department of Paediatrics and Child Health Faculty of Health Sciences University of Cape Town
