| Summary: | This study investigates a selection of pull determinants of non-FDI private capital flows into Tanzania over the 1995 to 2004 period. The study is informed by the potential of the respective capital to contribute towards the economic development process. The study uses a time series analysis to test the various determinants. The results reveal that in the long-run, financial development, GDP growth and gross capital formation have a positive impact to the flows of non-FDI private capital into Tanzania. Broad money has a negative impact to similar flows. In the short-run, results reveal an insignificant relationship between all the selected determinants and the capital flows. The results suggest a need for continued reforms and improved capacities to attract more flows. |
