The existing Bacille Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccine offers some protection against TB, but its efficacy varies for unknown reasons. In order to develop an effective vaccine, a comprehensive understanding of protective immunity in adults and children is needed. Studies involving host-pathogen interactions are complex and have been hampered by the slow growth of mycobacterial organisms. 2014-07-29T09:11:22Z 2014-07-29T09:11:22Z 2003 Master Thesis Masters MSc http://hdl.handle.net/11427/3476 eng application/pdf Department of Medicine Faculty of Health Sciences University of Cape Town
